  3. India wants a multi polar world not dominated by the West, and it still blames the USA for Pakistan/Bangladesh breaking away.

    Russia and India do not have any interests which clash, and in some ways, often align (eg, the West, China).

    India is only friendly with America so far as China is an unmanageable threat to India. They will work with the West a bit on China, but otherwise, they are playing their own game.

  4. So Europe need to stop buying said oil from India. Also Ukraine would be well positioned to attack crude pumping stations more to reduce sales to India.

  6. ~10% of India’s GDP is made up of outsourcing to the US and the EU. Furthermore, the US is their biggest trade partner.
    India is not that important; it’s also not powerful, and if it poses any threat to the West, we have the leverage to shut down their economy overnight. They know this, under any other US president, they would have behaved very pro-western regardless of how much shit we throw at them, but Trump is weak and they are using this to get some cash, that is all.
