  1. For context, Steffen Skjottelvik was trying to hike across Canada to Alaska. He was in the process of going around Hudson Bay when he went missing. This is one of the most remote parts of Canada and there are no roads or trails at all. People get around by air or boats or snowmobile in the winter. He was hiking in untouched wilderness inhabited by polar bears. He went missing a few weeks ago and his body was recovered about 2 weeks ago. Some articles claim it was the government agencies that found him, but luckily this one credits the First Nation that actually put their very limited resources into finding the man’s body. His family was invited to the community he spent his last time in. Even surrounding communities have been grieving his death. There are not many visitors up here and it is a great tragedy that he perished.

  2. Wow, the generosity and warmth that the local community is extending to his family, is something else. That’s really very touching.
