I recently visited Cardiff, and I went to see a “male voice choir” performing at a pub. They weren’t taking requests, but an old man went up and said “tonight is my wedding anniversary with my late wife – would you be so kind as to sing [song name] for her?” They sang this song, and knowing the context, I was very moved.
I would like to look up the lyrics and see what it’s about, but it’s all in Welsh, so I don’t know what to google. Could yall help me identify the name of the song?
P.S. After the show finished, one of the singers came up to me and said “I saw you had tears in your eyes – was that because we were good or were we really that bad?” Classic old man joke haha. I of course assured him they were good but then I was a bit embarrassed and left right after. But now I wish I had asked him what song that was!

This is beautiful, I believe the song is ‘Tydi a Roddaist’ meaning Thou Gavest
Sounds beautiful, but no clue
It would be worth you going back to the pub and asking what the name of the choir was. They’ll – both the pub and certainly the choir – will be more than happy to help.
I think that’s “Cwsg” by Timothy Evans.
You realise that just before you stepped in they had been singing in English?
Ar Hyd y Nos?
