Me if I saw the British army at a jobs fair

  1. Think the British army are over thinking the whole debacle, I mean what are the chances republicans would actually be at a jobs fair.

  2. I’m from a protestant upbringing (think extremists on both sides are nuts) though I can understand being anti British and anti British army. But.. just don’t give them the time of day and peruse the careers on offer that you are interested in.

Someone with no job taking a political stance that might cost them a job, and then claiming benefits from the government they opposed because they have no job just seems a little nonsensical to me

  3. I seen they were at Comic-Con there on Saturday. They had a great reception too, plenty of kids over engaging with them.

  4. Accurate footage of the British army “saving Afghanistan”

  5. There is nothing wrong with joining the British army.

  6. I would stay just to hear about how they were dressing it up these days, out of curiosity. I was a cadet many years ago, thoroughly enjoyed it and made so many friends through it. Met lots of dickheads that thought they were something too mind you, but the discipline I learned through drills and weapons handling I believe I carried forward in outside life too.

But would I think of joining the reserves? Risking my own life for wars that I have zero say in? Absolutely not.

  7. The real joke is OP being at a job fair in the first place.

  8. Jobs Fairs are of extremely limited use in my experience to anyone with more than minimal skills and experience in anything at all. Any job that can’t be filled via normal recruitment in this market is likely to be pretty grim.

  9. I remember many years ago (late 90s) was stuck in a rut going no where and I went to sign up, never made it past the initial interview at Hollywood barracks. So yeah not good when even the army doesn’t want you.

  10. Yep cos it’s not a job, it’s a career

    Says so in the ads!

  11. Part of my job is to attend careers and job fairs.on behalf of my company and I think they’ve had a stall at nearly everything I’ve attended in the past decade. I don’t know how this has suddenly become an issue.

  12. Because you left to go straight to the recruiting station to join there? You little patriot you

  13. Did you tell you tell the job centre this was the reason you didn’t attend?

  14. I remember they came to my school in Antrim (all protestant school) and they legitimately led with “you’ll get a free driving license, trips abroad, skiing and a Barclays credit card. It’s a job for life and a brotherhood.” I was dying because the obvious few were salivating at this bullshit.

  15. I’d rather join the Liechtenstein army. Great way to make new friends.

  16. Let me guess, you’d still want them to fight and die for you if the UK was ever attacked though, right?

  17. Hey, English lad here and I remember at the end of my GCSEs we had some army recruiters come in and talk about careers in the future. With some sneaky jobs like being chefs and mechanics.

I have seen a few doing the same at a few job fairs I went to.

Big nope then. Big nope now.

  18. They had a booth at Comic Con up in Lisburn last weekend. It was bizarre

  19. Not replying to comments but, I have a job, I’m not even sure what differentiates a republican from a nationalist, and I left a jobs fair in 2018 as soon as I saw the army 😃

  20. Being bombarded with fucking army and navy adverts, at the cinema

“I was born in Huddersfield, but I was made in the navy…”

    FUCK OFF
