  11. Yep. Aptly named Giant House Spider, *eratigena atrica*, from the Latin *ratigen*, meaning ‘the size of a rat’ and *trica*, meaning ‘run away’.

    They’ll start coming inside in the next couple of months, so that’s something to look forward to!

    Edit to clarify species name meaning.

  12. That’s definitely a larger specimen of _eratigena atrica_, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a photo on here of one even close to that size.

    Unless you’ve just got a tiny body, obviously.

    Surprised you managed to get it to stay so still on you for photos, to be honest! Normally super skittish.
