1. On one hand, Medvedev’s statement doesn’t represent Russian foreign policy. But these Nordic countries are practically the least harmful and most well off country out there alongside Singapore and Luxembourg, so I don’t see how anyone can believe these rhetorics. 

2. Is this some kind of a joke? Probably for us in the West. Not for average russian who is brainwashed. All of sudden the nazis reappeared in Finland, nordic countries, Moldova and soon Romania and guess what? Even Poland. So in their logic they must attack these countries. What a sick world we leave in. Too bad all they can is propaganda because in a real world all these countries would mop the floor with ruzzia.

3. I know Medvedev is just being used to float ideas without Putin having to take responsibility, but I don’t get how he thinks this is going to pan out. Just the implicit threat being made here is going to increase the pace of rearmament of Finland and other bordering countries. Putin either can’t or isn’t willing to end the war in Ukraine, so what army are they going to bring to bear against Finland or anyone else? Hell Russia wasn’t even willing to help out a CSTO ally, so what is the point of these comments or any plans to take on a NATO country? I used to at least respect Putin’s military analysis enough to know what countries he could get away with invading (even if he miscalculated about Ukraine), but now I’m wondering if Putin is going senile.

4. Medvedev does excel at saying stupid things that never come to pass – how often has he threatened to invoke nuclear war on The West for supporting Ukraine? And would Russia really be dumb enough to open a second front when they’re already haemorrhaging troops in Ukraine?

5. Yeah okay, whatever you say Russian troll. I’d trust Medvedev about as far as I could throw him; if he told me water was wet I’d be double checking a reliable source.

   If anything, Finland is probably ramping up planning to defend against Russian aggression, just like Poland.

6. Whats with the finland spam suddenly reddit. Not even medvedevs comments that they have been saying for the last 2 years. Some generals and nato babble making news and reddit front page. Is this fear mongering propaganda. Werent people telling that russia will commit suicide if they touched nato? So??

7. Declaring country is full of Nazis? Check. Preparing another big military exercises “Zapad”? Check. Well if we’ll see some formations moving closer to the border, it will be playing 2022 all over again.

8. Safe to say Finland isn’t that stupid. Are there fascists in Finland? Sure, maybe, whatever. Doesn’t matter much in this context. 

   The Finnish government is not going to do something that would be so plainly suicidal. Even with NATO assistance, attacking Russia doesn’t make sense from a realist point of view. Not much to gain, and everything to lose. Same can be said for Russia. They don’t have much of anything to gain from attacking a NATO member, but could lose everything in the process. 

   This just sounds like bluster aimed at internal audiences and gullible folks in Europe and the USA. Medvedev has been the “hot-take” guy for a while now, I’d recommend just ignoring what he says most of the time. 

9. Finland is now a NATO member and shares an 830 mile (1340 km) land border with Russia. They have 900,000 reservists out of a population of 5.6 million. Putin would have to be a moron to do this regardless of who is in the White House.

10. At this point, I think if Finland and Ukraine team up and split Russian forces into two fronts, they are going to steamroll the Ruskies. I wish them all the luck and hope they meet for drinks in the Kremlin!
