Korea defeated South Africa at Okinawa Cellular Stadium in Naha, Okinawa Prefecture, Japan on Wednesday to complete Game 17, suspended on Day 3, September 7, and bring Group A of the WBSC U-18 Baseball World Cup 2025 presented by RAXUS to a conclusion.

With the Super Round and Placement Round teams already confirmed on Tuesday, it was left to Korea and South Africa to finish their game to close the Opening Round.

The out game of the game didn’t impact the second round of the tournament.

World No. 1 Japan, No. 4 Korea, No. 7 Puerto Rico, No. 3 USA, No. 2 Chinese Taipei and No. 9 Panama will play the Super Round, with the top four advancing to the Medal Round.

Cuba, Italy, South Africa, Germany, Australia and China will play the Placement Round.

The second round will open on Thursday, September 11, at Cellular Stadium and Nishizaki Stadum in Itoman

The game resumed with left-hander Jansun Park on the mound, Donovan Wallendorf at first and South Africa’s centre fielder Imaad Hassiem at bat. Park used six pitches to get Hassiem ground out to shortstop and close a third inning that began on September 7.

Korea added four runs on two hits and two walks on Imaad Hassiem in the top of the fourth and closed the game by the run-difference rule after five innings.
