  1. > The Malcolm in the Middle star and NASCAR driver shared on a recent episode of the Lightweights Podcast that before his child stardom truly kicked into gear, he told his agent, “‘I want to be on All That. I want to be on The Amanda Show, because I had a huge crush on Amanda Bynes as a kid, and I thought that those were the funniest, most amazing shows.”

    > “My mom gets a call one day, and she’s freaking out, so excited. It’s Gail Berman, who at the time was the president of Fox. She goes, ‘You got asked to host Saturday Night Live. I’m like, ‘What’s that?’ And she’s like, ‘It’s huge. You’ll be one of the youngest people ever. It’s this big deal.'”

    > “I’m like, ‘Oh, hell no. I am going to the Kids’ Choice Awards, right? I don’t care. I’m meeting Amanda Bynes at the Kids’ Choice Awards,'” he recalled.

  2. And his mom didn’t force him to do it! I guess that explains how some child actors turn out alright

  3. Malcolm in the middle is one of my all time favorite shows

  4. Why have I not heard or thought about this guy in a decade only to have now seen 4 Frankie Munez stories in the last week?

  5. There better be Breaking Bad Easter eggs in the new Malcolm in the Middle.

  6. He wanted to meet Amanda Bynes. But he got to work with her in Big Fat Liar, underrated family movie and overtop bad guy performance from Paul Giamati

  7. Can’t blame him, kids get crushes. Glad his parents also were okay(ish) with it.

  8. Getting onto All That was every kids dream.  And look at Kenan now.  Frankie was right.

  9. I feel that was the right decision. SNL doen’t make you famous for hosts, it capitalizes on your fame at that time. Its fun for some, but for a teenage boy, yeah I would want to meet my crush and see what the universe has in store for us.
