BRONX, NY — Despite another outstanding effort on defense Friday afternoon, Fordham University volleyball team racked up 15.0 blocks in a 3-1 loss (21-25, 25-16, 22-25, 18-25) to Hofstra at the Rose Hill Gym.

Erynn Sweeney finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Rams attack, while defensively, the Maroon and White had two players reach double figures in digs as Audrey Brown had 16 and Ozge Ozaslan had 14. From the front row, Tatum Holderied contributed 10 blocks and Brown added seven rejections, as Fordham posted 10+ blocks for the fifth consecutive match and for the sixth time in the first eight matches in 2025, continuing the best such start in program history.

How It Happened

SET 1 | The Rams fought hard in a closely contested first set 25-21. Hofstra grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14 in a set that was tied up five times before the Pride took over in the second half of the frame.

SET 2 | Fordham responded to pick up a 25-16 victory in set two, evening the match at one set apiece. The Rams took control of the set lead early on at 4-3 and never trailed from that point, opening its biggest lead of the stanza, nine points, to finish off the set. Fordham’s front row had a solid defensive performance, blocking five Hofstra attacks in the stanza and capitalizing on 11 Hofstra attacking errors on the way to victory.

SET 3 | Hofstra grabbed a 2-1 match lead after another back-and-forth battle, losing 25-22 in a set that featured six lead changes and was tied 10 times. Neither team had a lead of more than four points along the way.

SET 4 | Fordham then dropped the fourth set 25-18 to finish off the match as the Rams fell behind early, despite a strong rally late in the set to remain in contention late.
