  1. >“Think of the children,” Colbert joked, nodding to host Nate Bargatze’s donation gimmick.

    >“I realized that in some ways, we were doing a late night comedy show about loss, and that’s related to love, because sometimes you only truly know how much you love something when you get a sense that you might be losing it,” Colbert said during his speech. “Ten years later, in September of 2025, my friends, I have never loved my country more desperately. God bless America. Stay strong, be brave, and if the elevator tries to bring you down, go crazy and put to the higher floor.”

  2. He captures the feeling so well – loving it so desperately and feeling like you’re losing it. Ugh.

  3. Stephen Colbert was cancelled because he wasn’t funny and his show was costing CBS tens of millions of dollars a year. Stephen is a hack and CBS gave him an Emmy out of sympathy.

  4. If he’s so great why doesn’t another network snap him up to host another show?

  5. Stephen Colbert is a great American and a good man. I hope we get back to a place where people like him are appreciated over toxic cruelty.

  6. This was a sympathy win. Daily show is head and shoulders above his monotonous show.

  7. We’re all in the bargaining phase of acceptance.

  8. I miss 2012 colbert. I remember coming home very night after work and watching the Daily Show/Colbert Report back to back.
