With students struggling against the increasing cost of living, one of the most urgent outgoings is food, but Iceland has revealed a fresh initiative to assist.
From September 15, students will gain access to a 10% reduction on their groceries when they shop at Iceland. The discount was originally tested in outlets last year and witnessed tremendous success, so it will now be introduced permanently.
To mark the return of the scehme, Iceland and The Food Warehouse are rolling out the offer daily from Monday, September 15 until Monday, September 29 and then every Wednesday afterwards, reports the Express.

An Iceland Foods spokesperson said: “With fees going up, we’re stepping up. Students already have enough on their plates, so we’re making sure it costs a little less to fill them.”

“Our 10% discount is back and to celebrate, we’re going bigger: with daily discounts this September. It’s our way of saying: we’ve got your back, from freshers’ week to exam season.”
To claim the reduction, all you need to do is visit Iceland and complete your shopping, then present your valid student ID at the checkout to receive your 10% off.
It’s not just students who can benefit from these reductions, though. Anyone over the age of 60 can take advantage of the same 20% reduction every Tuesday.
In order to get the discount, all you need to do is register for an Iceland Bonus card and then confirm your age at the point of purchase with some form of ID.
This can be with a bus pass, a driving licence or a senior’s rail card.
