(KHLA – Lake Charles, Louisiana) – Today’s LNG project groundbreaking ceremony in Carlyss, for what officials claim is the biggest foreign investment in Louisiana history, was attended by Governor Jeff Landry.
KPLC is reporting that Louisiana LNG, formerly Driftwood LNG, is backed by Woodside Energy, an Australian company, that bought the project’s original developer, Tellurian, last year.

Near Sulphur, in Carlyss, Louisiana, the $17.5 billion liquefied natural gas export terminal is being built.
The project, which occupies 1,200 acres on the west bank of the Calcasieu River, started construction in 2022.

The number of construction workers has increased to about 900 since April.
According to Woodside officials, the project aims to produce its first LNG in 2029 from a three-train foundation development that can produce 16.5 million tonnes annually.
