Kate Middleton is back in a tiara as the royals host President Donald Trump and first lady Melania Trump for a state banquet at Windsor Castle.
The Princess of Wales, 43, joined members of the British royal family at a state banquet on Sept. 17, honoring the United States president and first lady during their state visit to the U.K. The Windsor Castle event was also attended by Prince William, King Charles, Queen Camilla and other members of the royal family, wearing their finest for the glamorous occasion.
The first look at Kate’s look for the evening came with a photo shared on the couple’s social media pages. “Ready for The State Banquet,” they captioned the image, credited to photographer Matt Porteous.
The Prince and Princess of Wales posed together in their white-tie dress, with Kate sporting a couture gown by British designer Phillipa Lepley with a full-length, hand-embroidered gold Chantilly lace evening coat over a silk crepe gown.
She topped her look with her go-to royal headpiece: Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara.
Princess Kate has worn four different tiaras for occasions such as state banquets, diplomatic receptions and royal weddings, with the Lover’s Knot Tiara being her most worn royal accessory.
To complete her look for the state banquet, Princess Kate wore earrings that belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth. She also sported the Royal Family Order of King Charles III and the Royal Family Order of Elizabeth II along with the Grand Cross of the Royal Victorian Order star and sash.

Kate’s first tiara wear came when she wed Prince William in 2011.
Most recently, the Princess of Wales sported Queen Mary’s Lover’s Knot Tiara for the state visit of French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife, Brigitte Macron, in July. That occasion marked Kate’s first tiara since 2023, as she largely stepped out of the public eye for most of 2024 while she underwent cancer treatment. She announced in January that she was in remission.
