This is so dumb. Hard cold fact: Ukraine will not regain territory without western boots on the ground. I don’t like the Orange Assclown, but I agree with him where Ukraine is concerned. It’s no kindness to keep giving them aid that will only extend a war they can’t win. At this point, the best solution is the one that results in the fewest dead bodies.

Getting both to the same venue to talk is table stakes in this whole ordeal. Nothing was ever going to happen without that, and probably wouldn’t even if it could be achieved.
They hate each other, sure. But Zelenskyy is a great leader and would hold his nose long enough to talk to Putin if he could achieve anything for his country by doing so (he was willing to endure a meeting with Trump, after all). The real problem is Putin, who is unlikely even to agree to reasonable preconditions and does not accept Zelenskyy as a legitimate representative. Plus he’s a war criminal, and any venue that makes sense as a meeting place would put him in danger of arrest.

I keep hearing about this “deal” Ukraine needs to make. You know how a simpleton looks at combat, death, and international conflict? By looking at it like a real estate contract. The goals and process are completely different and approaching them as even remotely in the same realm is a failure of even a basic understanding of the stakes. Once the papers are signed, real estate deals are done and enforceable by an actual court with teeth. Once a “deal” is made to trade territory to the aggressor for a cessation of hostility you have essentially assured the “deal” is written on toilet paper.
Trump couldn’t negotiate a finger out his own backside…He is all talk and putin and other countries are now learning he won’t walk the walk…
