Had more spiders than ever this year, been a nightmare 😭
Get a salt gun.
I just had to step on one that came running towards me on the kitchen floor that looked exactly like that – I KNOW it’s cruel, but that must be the 10th one already this week, and I really don’t want to wake up with one on my face. Considering they’re supposed to be terrified of us, they sure are brave!
Spray around outside windows/doors, all the little spaces
Trust me, this stuff is kills them, you will literally see them fall to death, better at night to kill and in day as a deterrent if leaving windows open
Strong smell warning though
Inquisition is good…….
I’d rather have spiders than flys. Spuders are at least quiet.
It “broke in”?
Sure it did. With a tiny crowbar, I suppose?
The light within the tent – attracts flying bugs on the outside.
Spider is merely “setting up shop” – that is all.
Personally, I’d rather have a spider swiping all the mosquitos flying around my head, knowing that he’s not going to try and eat me between meals.
Please tell me you it only got in because you left it unzipped? I’m currently in my bed tent setup which has been the only thing letting me sleep soundly the past few weeks.
Use the “Nope!” Spider repellent spray from Amazon. I lived in an old house with lots of crevices, so I used to spray it all over window and door frames, directly on any place they could nest etc. Got rid of them pretty quickly.
What in the actual living hell. I thought the massive crab looking spiders where hundreds if not thousands of miles away from the UK, not IN the UK! 😭🤮
Bring peppermint or at least peppermint oil with you and stick a little bit everywhere!!!!
I’m going to the UK early November. Are they really all over the place that time of year?
The bed tent sounds like a good idea until one gets in and your trapped with it 😅
Peppermint oil or a strong smell put them off. They seek out dark spaces. A black tent is a bit of a draw.
I know a lot of people don’t like insect spray but I’d be closing every door and window, spraying every inch of the house and then leaving for an hour or two.
A lot of people don’t mind harmless spiders but sorry I hate the bloody things too.
You can also get barrier spray to apply around the perimeter of the house particularly around doors, windows, garage doors etc.
Sorry people I’m pretty careful about the environment in general – recycling, plastic free as much as possible, composting, minimising car trips etc but I just can’t handle the buggers inside.
How are you able to be there that close
I bought a zip up bed tent too!! I thought they were a safe space! Mines isn’t dark though, its a big see through mosquito net type situation.
I’m absolutely terrified of the wee pricks.
I really don’t want them on my bed and to accidentally get bit since I have an autoimmune disease and take 2 immunosuppressive drugs and steroids, so an infected bite for me would be bad and they can accidentally bite people so I do what I can to make sure I’m not sharing a bed with one…..and now you’ve given me the absolute fear.
OP I used to be absolute terrified of bugs. Something crawling or flying would make me panic and I wouldn’t be able to settle till it was gone. Complete and utter central nervous shut down. Horrific entomophobia! I moved to a much warmer country not realising bugs would be a much more severe problem here. Ants, palmetto bugs(Giant and I mean giant American cockroaches!!!!), spiders, huge flys, huge moths, butterflies, bees, wasps and venomous centipedes are daily factor of life where I’m living. I am no longer terrified of bugs, don’t get me wrong I don’t love them and I wouldn’t kiss one but the absolute fear and dread has completely gone. I’m now able to pick them up with my bare hands and put them outside no problem. You need exposure and a lot of it. I know you don’t want to be anywhere near them and the idea of spiders terrifies you to the very core, but not living in fear is honestly much better than sleeping in a tent. My life is much better not worrying about an insect being in my living quarters. I’ve even made friends with some crab spiders because they’re so cute! Watch videos on spiders and push yourself to touch them. You don’t have to live in fear! 🙂
Oddly my large house spider problem was solved by large cellar spiders eating them all.
Appreciate that’s fighting fire with a flamethrower, but the cellar spiders just kind of exist on the ceilings and occasionally vibrate madly if disturbed. They don’t zoom about the house, they aren’t as physically ‘present’ and don’t quite trigger the same “ick” factor for some reason.
I don’t know why I’ve got so many of them in my house this year but they’ve done a good job clearing up the bigger sprinty spiders.
Get an Electric Bug Zapper Bat, they’re handy for flies too and can be used to eliminate these bastards if they get too close, though they do tend to fry them a bit rather than simply zapping them to death. All in all I still find them better than using my hands or a large book.
They’re out in force because its their mating season!
Still hit em with the raid whenever I see em though.
Sleeping in a beekeepers suit from now on it is then, with a zip up mosquito net inside your bed tent

Jesus, how many spiders must you have in your house if you have to resort to getting a bed tent?
There’s plenty of other spider deterrents available to buy..on the Web..
I posted this on your last post, but a tent is the absolute worst place to sleep if you want to avoid spiders. Much worse than a normal bed
A bed tent?
you sleep in a zip in bed tent!? Man thats crazy, go get yourself immersed in a bowl of spiders – get it sorted.
I feel like you’d see much fewer spiders if you didn’t sleep in the kinds of small dark spaces spiders love.
They hate peppermint, eucalyptus, lavender, and citrus. It’s a life long expense.
They also hate clean houses. No snacks or bed spaces. You should move furniture and clean behind it often.
Window nets are great, but imo not perfect.

At least it will be easy to burn down
