When Prince Harry and Meghan Markle asked to pull back on their royal duties the request was declined, and as a result, they pulled back completely with one royal expert saying the late Queen Elizabeth II made a mistake because she was badly advised.

Five years later, it appears the decision is being revisited, and it’s possible Harry and Meghan may rejoin the Royal Family in a more official capacity with royal expert Ian Pelham Turner saying this would create a united front with the Sussexes acting as royal ambassadors in the US, broadening the reach of the monarchy.

Mr. Pelham Turner, a former royal photographer, said: “They would be far better off with a secure and united Royal Family, both American and British, which would be the most fabulous combination of the lot.”

Pelham Turner pondered what Harry and Meghan’s return to the fold would look like, painting a picture for us.

He said: “I wonder whether or not Harry and Meghan as royals, established royals again, could have a pivotal role in America, that would be really putting out a royal message in America.”

Harry and Meghan resigned as senior working royals in 2020 and have been living in the US since then with their two children, Prince Archie, 6 and Princess Lilibet, 4.

Since they are no longer working on behalf of the Royal Family, conducting engagements that benefit British charities, they are not allowed to use their HRH or royal titles in terms of work purposes because it would result in personal gain.

Harry still continues to spearhead Invictus Games, a sports competition for injured veterans that takes place every other year, but does so as a private citizen. Also, he pursues humanitarian initiatives like traveling to foreign countries and meeting with officials, also as a private citizen.

If Harry and Meghan were to resume some of their royal duties, in a part-time capacity, possibly they could support the Royal Family and pursue personal initiatives, independent of one another, similar to what Prince Edward and Sophie, Duchess of Sussex, did when they were first married, summing up what Pelham Turner is suggesting.

The Duke was just in the UK for four days last week with Pelham Turner seeing a change in him, that he was all smiles and genuinely happy. According to the royal expert, he’s seeing a maturity in Harry that he didn’t see last year.

There’s been a number of reports in the same vein, that Harry is back to his old self, which may because this is what he’s meant to do, whether he likes it or not, Harry is good at being a royal.

In some cases, people just need a break, and five years away from the Royal Family may have been enough for Harry, and he’s ready to resume his role as a royal in a more official capacity.

According to Pelham Turner, the public seems to enjoy the split more than seeing the members of the Royal Family get along, but if they are to reunite, it will strengthen the monarchy and cut down on speculation and criticism, allowing the royals to get on with their work.

Pelham Turner said: “In public opinion, across both sides of the Atlantic, there seems to be more energy in the split rather than bringing them back together again.”

He explained: “In reality, the biggest mistake that anyone from the British side is trying to do to vilify Harry and Meghan, the big mistake is that all it does in Britain is remind people of Harry and Meghan.”

Prince William is going to be the hardest nut to crack in terms of a royal reconciliation, and according to Pelham Turner, he is putting himself before the monarchy and it’s not a good look for an heir in waiting.
