MALTA, NY (WRGB) — A Ballston Spa man who has been in a coma since an incident Sept. 8 is expected to be removed from life support in the coming days.

Josh Soden, 30, was struck by a car outside Bentley’s Tavern in Malta, and pinned under the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, identified as Morgan Lange, 33, is charged with 2nd degree Felony Vehicular Assault, Felony Tampering with Evidence, Driving While Intoxicated, and other vehicle and traffic law violations.

In an update on the gofundme page for Soden’s care, organizer Brianna Falvey states in part, “Unfortunately, the trauma he experienced was too much for his body to handle, and he has been declared brain dead. His family is heartbroken, and words cannot express the depth of this loss.”

According to that update, Albany Medical Center will hold an Honor Walk to celebrate Soden’s decision to donate organs. Timing remains to be confirmed, but anyone who wishes is invited to join.

Funds raised through the gofundme — currently a bit over $36,000 of the $40,000 goal — will go to his family, to help with funeral expenses, outstanding medical costs, and other needs.
