Finance minister to focus on productivity, competitiveness

Economy and Finance Minister Kyriakos Pierrakakis will travel to Copenhagen to attend the informal council meetings of the Eurogroup on Friday and ECOFIN on Saturday.

Also on Saturday, Pierrakakis will lead a conversation of finance ministers on innovation and digitization, focusing on the reforms that boost productivity and competitive ability of the European economy.

On Friday, at the Eurogroup, the ministers will review the next steps for the adoption of the digital euro. They will also set the Eurogroup’s timetable up to June 2026.

An ECOFIN working lunch will focus on the European legislation’s complexity and seek ways to make regulations more effective and less expensive for businesses and public finances.

The ministers and heads of central banks will also discuss how to simplify the European fiscal framework, and review the conclusions of the Bruegel think tank report on geopolitical developments and their economic repercussions in Europe.
