Bishop Daniel E. Garcia, who in July was appointed by Pope Leo XIV as the sixth Bishop of the Diocese of Austin, was formally installed at St. William Catholic Church Thursday, Sept. 18, 2025. The installation was celebrated with more than 30 bishops from Texas, California, Louisiana, and Oklahoma, 460 clergy and religious sisters, 255 parish representatives, about 100 Catholic school principals and students, family, friends and special guests. Prior to this appointment, Bishop Garcia, a native Texan, was Bishop of Monterey, California.
