Do you remember the time Kate Middleton sang a duet with American singer Kelly Clarkson? No? Are you sure? But there are pictures all over Facebook, aren’t there?

Ok, so it didn’t really happen, but why is it being reported on?

Bizarre Kate Middleton and Kelly Clarkson story

Recently, a bizarre story has been doing the rounds on social media about Kate and Kelly.

According to the story, Kate and Kelly performed a stunning rendition of “Tears in Heaven” at the Royal Albert Hall.

The story claims that the song was a tribute to the fathers they’d lost. “For your dad… and for mine,” Kelly whispered to Kate, before their duet began.

It was such a stunning performance that William was seen wiping away a tear.

Except, none of this really happened.

Kate Middleton and Kelly Clarkson’s duet debunked

Though there are some pretty convincing pictures of Kelly and Kate signing to go along with the story, they’re actually AI-generated.

There are also some discrepancies in the story, other than the fact that the whole thing is a load of rubbish.

The song being dedicated in part to Kate’s father, whom she “lost”, can’t be possible, as Michael Middleton is still alive. The 76-year-old lives in Bucklebury Manor, Berkshire, with his wife Carole, 70.

Kelly’s father, however, sadly passed away in 2018.

Finally, it doesn’t appear as though Kelly and Kate have ever met.

Not everyone fell for the fake story on Facebook, thankfully.

“It’s fake!!” one fan commented. “So far she has apparently sang with 10 different people this week,” another said sarcastically.

“I don’t think so,” a third wrote.

Surprising Kate Middleton and Kelly Clarkson connection

Though they’ve never met, Kate and Kelly do have a surprise connection.

Both Kelly and Kate suffered severe morning sickness during their pregnancies, something both have been very open about in the past.

In 2020, during an appearance on the Happy Mum, Happy Baby podcast, Kate opened up about her experience with Hyperemesis gravidarum (HG).

HG is extreme morning sickness that causes you to vomit several times per day during pregnancy. The condition often needs hospital treatment. It’s thought that between 1-3 out of every 100 women suffer from HG during pregnancy, according to the NHS website. Kate was hospitalised with it during her first pregnancy back in 2012.

“It was fine. I got very bad morning sickness, so I’m not the happiest of pregnant people,” she said.

When asked if she’d had HG “every time”, she replied: “Yes, unfortunately. Lots of people have it far, far worse, but it was definitely a challenge.

“Not just for me but also for your loved ones around you – and I think that’s the thing – being pregnant and having a newborn baby and things like that, impacts everybody in the family.”

Kelly’s morning sickness battle

Speaking in 2016 during an interview with CBS This Morning, Kelly opened up about her experience with morning sickness.

“I’m familiar with all-day sickness,” the star, who was expecting her second child at the time, said.

“I have to get IVs and fluids because I get so dehydrated. It’s really bad.

The star previously described her first pregnancy as being “horrible”.

“I had to kind of take longer off because I had such a horrible pregnancy – like, I was like hospitalised. It was just a bad pregnancy so I had to take off way more time than normal,” she said.
