Employers and educators are gathering in Wolverhampton for a week-long celebration of enterprise and innovation.
The city will host a series of events focused on skills development and economic growth as Business Week returns from 22 to 26 September at Molineux Stadium.
“There are a lot of talented people here,” said Matt Weston, director of video production company Stones Throw Media. “It’s a really good week where you showcase businesses and build up relationships with people.”
City of Wolverhampton Council said the week is a “powerful platform” to highlight the opportunities being created in the city.
Mr Weston told the BBC that hosting sessions in Business Week was the company’s way of giving back to the area.
He said: “We just wanted to do something positive in the city. It’s an area that has a lot of struggles; it doesn’t get great press in terms of innovation.
“It’s a chance for people to learn things. It’s a way to help each other and grow the local economy here.”
The annual business breakfast will take place on Friday and will bring together city leaders, employers, and educators to explore how skills investment is powering Wolverhampton’s future. The event will be hosted by TV broadcaster Amber Sandhu.
Councillor Chris Burden, cabinet member for city development, jobs and skills, said: “Wolverhampton is investing in its people and its future, and Business Week is a powerful platform to showcase how we’re working with partners to create opportunities.
“I encourage anyone invested in Wolverhampton’s success to join us and be part of the conversation.”
