US immigration judge orders expulsion of pro-Palestinian student Mahmoud Khalil • FRANCE 24

His was a leading role in the pro Palestinian protest at Columbia University last year. And now Mahmud Khalil is facing deportation again. A US immigration judge in the southern state of Louisiana ordered Khalil to be deported to either Syria where he was born or to Algeria where he holds citizenship. This court finds that respondent willfully misrepresented material facts for the sole purpose of circumventing the immigration process and reducing the likelihood his application could be denied. A permanent resident of the United States who’s married to a US citizen and is now the father of an American. The threat of deportation has loomed over Mahmud Khalil since last March. You got to be under arrest. when federal police arrested him and sought to deport him. He spent over a 100 days in jail as part of the Trump administration’s wider crackdown on pro Palestinian activism on college campuses. While in detention, Khalil missed the birth of his son. He was released last June after a New Jersey judge said his detention was unconstitutional. Now facing deportation again, Khalil said his right to free speech is being infringed upon again. It is no surprise that the Trump administration continues to retaliate against me for my exercise of free speech.
