I was clearing out part of my driveway today, moved an old pallet and this chunky bloke flopped out from under it, they hid behind my garden gate so I put down a cardboard box and covered it in leaves, sticks and grass, she eventually crawled inside but they're now just sort of sitting on my garden path in a ghillie suit hotel chocolate velvetiser box.
What do I do?! Feel awful about disturbing them!

Eh, let ‘em be – he seems cordial enough.
Maybe leave out a bit of water for him
It’ll find a new home, just leave it be really
Leave out some water. I don’t think you need to worry about feeding him, he looks like he’s got that well in hand.
Hogs don’t tend to stay in the same place for long, they do a lot of walking. He’ll be fine if you leave him be. Maybe put some water out and meat flavoured cat biscuits.
Offer some cat food and water in case that helps. Remove their make shift box when it’s dark and they’ll head off and find a new place for winter.
Now you know you have hedgehogs, put some hedgehog houses in the garden. I put mine behind the compost heap, as they like the heat and it’s also a full on slug buffet.
Make sure there’s a gap in your fence so he can get out of the garden
What a beauty …
Cat food
I get jealous when I see hedgehogs. we used to get them regularly but not seen one in over 30 years.
You probably just disturbed it’s day bed, it’ll find another.
r/hoggies might appreciate seeing this, and has a wiki of info including what to feed, and how to garden for hogs.
I love hedgehogs, when I’m sitting at the back door having a smoke one will just come up and wait for a snack,so I get baked and the wee homie gets some chicken
Pspspspspspspsps Boop
Put out some cat biscuits and water and leave them be
I think that’s a lady as the males are smaller generally. Cat food, old woolly jumper shredded in a upturned box with a hole in the side for access.
Imagine how livid youd be if someone just stole your fuckin’ house 😂
I think you’ve done something nice in making him a lil cardboard house with leaves and sticks. He will probably be quite happy and maybe relocate when it is dark again.
He probably doesn’t need food, as it is pretty buggy this time of year, and I’m not sure where you are but it’s been pissing it down here today so he’s likely got water…but can’t hurt to leave maybe a dish of water nearby.
….and apologise!
Name them
If you put food make sure it doesn’t have fish
Keep him in your garden he’s good at keeping the moles out the garden
Marvin seems appropriate.
Build him a little house
Poor thing had a rude awakening! He will be fine. Leaving out a shallow dish of water is really helpful. You’d be amazed how much hogs drink. Looks a great weight so shouldn’t have any issues heading into winter and obviously has found plenty of food.
If you can leave an undisturbed area of your garden where he can safely sleep that’d be kind. Even better, get him a hibernation station and leave dried grass and leaves for him to make a bed.
The traditional way to cook them is to give it a fright so it curls up into a ball. Quick as you like, roll it in heavy clay and chuck it into your camp fire for about 45 minutes. When it’s done, crack open the clay and the spines fall away with it. You’ve got yourself a juicy, tender and delicious lunch!

Also it’s true: that’s how people used to cook them.
This may help [https://hedgehog-rescue.org.uk/index.php](https://hedgehog-rescue.org.uk/index.php)
he looks hungry, leave him some treats pls 🦔🦔🦔
Fatten him up for another couple of months, then wrap in clay at bake at 180 degrees for an hour.
He needs a nice garden. He’s looking for safety
Whatever you do, just don’t feed him dairy products. Please. Just water. Maybe dig him up some earthworms and gently throw at him. Not on him.. 😜
Could easily see this as a new drinking game equivalent to putting a tail on a donkey.
Leave out water. Best thing is to leave them alone. Cat food is not really recommended.
Make him a little house
Leave him to it.
I saw a hedgehog about an hour ago crossing the road as I got back to the house. Honestly the first one I’ve seen in about 30 years.
Leave his coins alone
Put out some water and cat food, he will find another spot to rest
Fresh water and chicken flavour cat biscuits please, served in a rainproof shelter (I use a dog kennel I bought on Amazon).
See if it wants a cuppa and some biscuits.
They have multiple nests close by so if they get disturbed then they can move to another. At least that’s what a rescue centre told me.
Give him a job as a cheese and pineapple storage unit.

Low and slow
I saw one that big the other day but he was dead 🙁
Either a pie or a stew.
You need a least 4 hours on low to soften up the spikes first.
Casserole?
Make sure there’s a good sized gap in your fence… being careful not to make any loud noises round them… take a three step run up and “Johnny Wilkinson” it into the neighbours pond.
