CARBON COUNTY—At approximately 3:46 a.m., an emergency alert was issued through the Carbon County emergency alert system, warning residents of a semi-truck accident involving two semi-trucks at the junction of Consumers Road and U.S. Highway 6.

One of the trucks, which was hauling crude oil, reportedly crashed and caught fire. Officials said the fire is spreading rapidly and advised all residents within a half-mile radius to evacuate immediately.

Traffic is being diverted through Spring Glen Road. The Utah Highway Patrol said U.S. 6 is expected to remain closed for four to eight hours.

Details of how the accident occurred and the drivers’ injuries have not been confirmed. Emergency crews remain on scene.
