Meghan Markle stepped away from royal life to be an influencer with Sky News Australia’s Reilly Sullivan saying she had so much influence as a royal, but she threw it away, which he finds “so sad.”
Prince Harry and Meghan are set to appear in a Disney documentary, premiering on ABC this coming Sunday, which Sullivan believes is “the tackiest thing they’ve done yet.”
According to Sullivan, Harry and Meghan “selling themselves for free events and a little bit of pay” is lowbrow and beneath members of the Royal Family.

The royal commentator said: “We think about this state visit, we’ve got the President of the United States sitting down with the royals, I mean, the rooms they would’ve been in, the influence, the possibilities for effecting change they could have made, to now be basically influencers for selling themselves for free events and a bit of money, it’s just so sad.”
Sullivan talks about what they’re missing out as royals, and rubbing elbows with US President Donald Trump, but he also goes over what they’re getting into.
He doesn’t see the Disney documentary as a good fit, and he thinks the Sussexes are out there “shilling” for free events and a bit of money when they could be doing so much more.
Sullivan said, “For Meghan Markle, really, she threw it all away. If she had stayed in the Royal Family, she could have not only been so powerful and so effective, but she would have had so much influence.”
The couple recently enjoyed a trip to Disneyland, an outing that could set back families by $5k.
Meghan took to Instagram to share a snapshot of the Sussex family at Disneyland. It remains unclear whether this was a fun-filled family outing or a paid partnership with the entertainment giant.
The Sussexes have just renewed their contract with Netflix, but rumors suggest they might be exploring other opportunities with Disney.
Sullivan discussed their business ventures and the potential opportunities ahead of them.
He said: “We know they have a first look deal with Netflix, so Disney, and all the other sort of streamers and entertainment companies can take a piece of the Sussexes, if they want, it may be more of a relationship between Harry and Meghan and Disney.”
Sullivan pondered whether the Sussexes have any regrets, a topic Harry recently addressed, asserting he has a clear conscience.
He seems to answer his own question: “To basically be influencers selling themselves for free events and a bit of money, it’s just so sad.”
According to Sullivan, they had everything, and they gave it all away, but it’s all relative. He might be projecting his idea of success onto the Sussexes.
It’s unclear whether the Sussexes have a deal with Disney or if they simply agreed to appear in the documentary because Disneyland is often referred to as the happiest place on Earth (perhaps not so much now).
