Canada has formally recognized a Palestinian state, aligning itself with European allies

1. It was always odd how western states said they support a two state solution while only recognizing one state.

3. Not sure why the pro-Genocide camp is mad about this when the various conditions that have been put in place will ensure that the formal recognition either never happens, or it creates another toothless leadership that will welcome being trampled over and settled upon like the west bank. 

4. They only recognize 20% of Palestine, they gave the rest 80% of Palestinina lands to Israeli colonists, this isn’t enough, fuck Israel and free Palestine.

5. What are the boundaries for the Palestinian state? What are the consequences of settlements in contested territories?

Surprised to see this happen, but the actual statement is only mildly critical of Israel and, in typical Canadian fashion, does so in a very vague, meandering sort of way (e.g refers to a degrading humanitarian situation and settler violence but without Israeli attribution). Whereas the critique of Hamas is very pointed and exact.

8. Recognition but no normalization. And no normalization until a laundry list of conditions are fulfilled. What a way to sour a historic day.

   Also these sort of middle of the road half-measures will just piss off both sides, satisfying neither.

9. So when Hamas doesn’t leave and Gaza isn’t Demilitarized shall Canada remove the recognition? 2026 is right around the corner and Gaza is going to have a non-Jihad election? Delusional

    Even though west “recognizing” Palestine is just empty words but it goes to show how scared Znazi colonizers are of free world and free people from their clutches.

11. It’s as if millions of ~~israeli propaganda accounts~~ posters on /r/worldnews cried out, and were suddenly silenced.

    Great news. Anything that undermines Israel’s occupation is good for the Palestinians.
