Author speaks out about Harry, Meghan’s foreshadowing exit

In November 2019, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex shared a Thanksgiving message on Instagram, “Wishing you a very happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours,” accompanied by a maple leaf emoji.

But according to royal author Valentine Low, the detail hinted at their real location, Canada, where they had secretly retreated for a six-week break.

At the time, both the Palace and the couple declined to confirm their whereabouts, saying only that they would spend time with Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland, as per Daily Mail.

Even their nanny, Low writes in Courtiers, was left in the dark until the plane took off.

The secrecy fueled speculation about their future.

The Sussexes had taken their dogs and personal belongings with them, signaling to staff that a permanent move might be coming, as per the outlet.

Meghan eventually confided to aides that she and Harry did not intend to return.

Just weeks later, the couple announced plans to “step back” from royal duties, triggering the so-called “Sandringham Summit” in January 2020.

Harry has since claimed in his memoir Spare that the meeting was “for show,” alleging his family had already decided the couple must leave royal life completely, as per the publication.

The Canadian trip is now widely seen as the beginning of “Megxit,” the chain of events that reshaped the monarchy’s relationship with the Sussexes.
