King Charles III will arrive in Barrow-in-Furness later to recognise the Cumbrian town’s “critical contribution” to national defence and industry.
The port town is home to defence firm BAE Systems’ shipyard, which is building nuclear-powered submarines.
When the Prime Minister visited in March, he confirmed King Charles had agreed to bestow the title of The Royal Port of Barrow on the area around the shipyard and docks.
Full details of the visit have yet to be released, but locals have been encouraged to make plans to be in the town to welcome the King.
