ABILENE, Texas — Lights streaked across the Big Country sky around 8:30 p.m. Sunday night, leaving many residents wondering what caused the spectacular show.

Among those who witnessed it was KTXS meteorologist Caiden Dinkins, who managed to capture the event on video.

While the lights look similar to a meteor shower, Dinkins and other meteorologists currently believe the phenomenon was actually space debris burning up as it entered Earth’s atmosphere.
