Akzo Nobel Coatings, a leading player in the decorative paints and coatings market, announces the launch of two innovations: the ACOMIX tinting system and recycled plastic packaging, along with the relaunch of two recognized brands in its portfolio: APLA and Rost. These initiatives are part of a strategic investment aimed at strengthening the company’s position in the market under favorable market conditions.

The Romanian market for decorative paints and coatings has demonstrated a steady growth trajectory, with a consumption of 240 thousand tons in 2024, equivalent to EUR 490 million. This growth is expected to continue, with the market estimated to reach around EUR 500 million by the end of 2025. Renovations account for 80% of paint consumption and there is a growing preference for premium products, with 85% of consumers opting for durable and reliable solutions.

In response to the market dynamics, Akzo Nobel Coatings has focused on portfolio consolidation, innovation and customer-centric solutions. The introduction of the ACOMIX tinting system, backed by EUR 2 million investment, exemplifies the company’s commitment to technological advancement. This system offers over 2,000 interior paint shades and 320 exterior options, ensuring superior color accuracy and durability.

Locally, the company is replacing virgin plastic packaging with recycled content and aims to switch 50% of its packaging to recycled plastic by the end of 2025 and reach 90% by the end of 2026. In this way, Akzo Nobel Coatings is contributing to the global sustainability goals.

The company offers solutions through water-based products that surpass traditional alternatives in terms of technical characteristics and are the basis of the company’s continuously growing portfolio of environmentally friendly products. In the future, Akzo Nobel Coatings intends to introduce more waterborne products to the market, thus strengthening its commitment to sustainability and environmentally responsible solutions.

The relaunch of APLA and Rost, with a modern and attractive design, enhances AkzoNobel’s brand visibility and supports alignment with the company’s global standards. In addition, the new Savana website, www.savanaculoare.ro, serves as a digital hub for inspiration and support, providing a comprehensive and accessible experience for consumers and professionals alike.

We maintained growth through innovation, operational efficiency and strong partnerships. In 2025, we aim to pick up the pace, bringing sustainable and efficient solutions that bring us closer to our customers.”
