BTS’ V has purchased South Korea’s priciest penthouse in Gangnam.
BTS member Kim Taehyung, better known as V, has made headlines for a jaw-dropping real estate purchase. The singer has acquired South Korea’s most expensive penthouse, paying 14.2 billion KRW (approximately $10.3 million) entirely in cash.
V’s Record-Breaking Property Investment
Reports on September 24 confirmed that V had bought a luxury unit in The Penthouse Cheongdam (PH129), located in the affluent Cheongdam-dong area of Gangnam, Seoul. Since its launch in 2020, PH129 has held the title of the country’s costliest residential property for four consecutive years. V’s purchase, free of loans or mortgages, underlines his financial stature and positions him among the top celebrity homeowners in South Korea.
The penthouse boasts a sprawling 2,951 sq ft of exclusive space, complete with five bedrooms and three bathrooms. According to real estate records, the initial sales agreement was signed in May, with the final ownership transferred earlier this month.
From $4.5M Apartment To $10M Penthouse
This isn’t V’s first brush with luxury living. Back in 2018, he had purchased an apartment worth around $4.5 million. His latest acquisition, however, is a significant upgrade of nearly $10 million, reinforcing his rising stature beyond the music world. The purchase also highlights V’s ability to make big-ticket investments while continuing his global career as a K-pop phenomenon.
Sharing The Neighborhood With Celebrities
By buying into PH129, V joins an elite list of South Korean celebrities who also own homes in the high-profile building. Neighbors reportedly include actors Jang Dong-Gun and Go So-Young, golfer Park In-Bi, and Hyun Woo-Jin. With only 29 duplex-style units spread across 20 floors and six basement levels, the residence offers exclusivity alongside unmatched luxury.
BTS Comeback
BTS is planning a group comeback with a new album and world tour in Spring 2026 after the members completed their mandatory military service. The group announced their return in a Weverse livestream in July 2025, stating they would be working together on new music, which will be their first full group album in six years.
