I empathize with the sentiment, but most expats who *plan* to be in Luxembourg for a few years at most – regardless of whether they *actually* stay longer – will view Luxembourgish as a waste of time. That’s going to discourage some qualified people from coming to Luxembourg and push some families to school their children in Belgium or France, which will have a negative effect on long-term integration.
I feel that making Luxembourgish an elective or after school program and giving incentives (Higher weighted GPAs? Subsidies for after school childcare? Faster residency / citizenship?) would have the intended effect of teaching kids Luxembourgish without pushing high value expats away.
I’m a bit surprised by the increase of the private vs public at secondary level. Any explanation on this pattern?

MLGA make Luxembourg great again
What is the outcome that Government wants to achieve by this?
