WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Goshen Medical Center (GMC) has announced a data breach that may affect the protected information of some patients.
GMC has locations in Bolton, Chadbourn, Elizabethtown, Southport, Whiteville, Wallace and Tabor City.
Suspicious activity was detected in the network on March 4, and after an investigation, it was determined that files had been accessed or acquired without authorization on Feb. 15.
GMC officials state that there is no evidence of any misuse or attempted misuse of the impacted information following a comprehensive review on Sept. 12.
Additional security measures have been implemented, and law enforcement has been notified, according to GMC. GMC is reviewing its policies and procedures related to data protection.
