Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are heading to New York City to accept a special recognition for their mental health advocacy.

I would genuinely love it if celebrities accepting awards for being celebrities wasn’t considered “activism.” It’s not. It’s nothing more than the standard self-absorbed BS famous people do to pat their backs and pretend like they care.
Eta: I’m also not sure what mental health work they’ve done this year. They’ve really done nothing relating to MH, and surely not enough to get them some humanitarian of the year award. This seems like one of those bought and paid for awards, and that grosses me out to an intense level. The award-buying stuff is probably one of my least favourite aspects about the Sussexes. It makes my skin crawl.
I feel like they get an award or “honours “ every couple months, and it’s kind of funny.
