I’ve noticed recently at McDonald’s that some people order as takeaway (15% VAT) but then sit down and eat inside (25% VAT). Has anyone else seen this happening more often?
Yeah i have asked this my friend and she told me when you eat inside you create trash and etc so it requires that someone else will clean your trash so this is why %10 extra tax. But if you take away you carry your own trash so it’s less taxed.
Nothing new. Taxing food 15% is crazy at 25% it becomes diabolical!
I mean, the whole rule on differentiating moms between how food is eaten is borderline idiotic. Like why should you pay more taxes on food depending on how you are eating it?
If you buy food at a fast food place and eat outside on a bench or in your car, 15% tax. If you eat it inside, 25% tax all of a sudden. If you go to another fastfood place and eat it standing, its back to 15% despite being inside…
It’s because food is taxed at 15%, while services are taxed at 25%. If you eat inside, it is defined as a service. If you only order the food, it is defined as food.
I can actually remember this happening as long as there has been a difference in VAT for eating in or out. Especially in places that are open late in the evening on the weekends (Burger King) where you can easily sneak off to a part of the restaurant that the staff can’t see when they’re busy. And even when the people who work there notice they’re usually not going to do anything about it. It’s a low paying stressful job so this will be the least of the staffs concerns. Sometimes a security guard (vekter) might come along and ask you to clear out for infringing upon this rule, but then again this will not be something they prioritize, they’re there to keep the peace.
