Colombian volunteers serving in Ukraine's 117th Separate Territorial Defense Brigade pay respects to their fallen comrade, Nanis Mayerli Rodríguez Castañeda (Callsign: 'Nana').

Nana, from Yopal, Colombia, was a former soldier in the Colombian Army's first female unit. She joined the Ukrainian forces and initially participated in combat in the Sumy direction. More recently, she served as an infantry soldier and medic with the 117th Brigade, which was deployed in the Donetsk Oblast area, specifically around Yampil.

She was reportedly killed in combat recently (within the last few weeks) while on a mission at the front line.

  1. Much respect to all heroes fighting for all of us in Ukraine 🇺🇦 Heroyam Slava!

  2. In that brief clip you can tell she had loads of character & loved life.

All the best to her family & comrades who will undoubtably miss her a great deal.

  3. she had such an infectious smile and looks like she would be the one to bring light to everyone’s day. this had to have been a hard loss for those who knew and fought with her. Praying for Nanis, her family, and her friends / fellow soldiers. Thank you for your service ‘Nana’. May you rest in peace.

  4. Its seems like the most beautiful smiles are always taken too soon. RIP brave soldier. I hope that smile is still on your face somewhere

  5. Respect 🫡 A lively soul, taken too soon from us. RIP

  7. _They went with songs to the battle, they were young,
Straight of limb, true of eye, steady and aglow.
    They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted;
They fell with their faces to the foe._

_They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
    We will remember them._

Vale Nana. Clearly she was a beautiful and righteous soul, and that is how she will be remembered. Well done to her comrades – that is a beautiful tribute.

    Heroam Slava 🇨🇴🇺🇦

  8. What a warrior. People think that “tough” means grizzled, angry, psychotic, roided out brutes. THIS is what tough looks like. The ability to keep a smile and a sense of humor in the face of a massive destructive invading force that wants you dead, while defending the people suffering from that invasion.

  9. Latin America stands with Ukraine. QEPD y gracias, Nana!

    Slava Ukraini!

  10. Rest in Peace , international warrior & hero to Ukraine. One day we will see, she was helping protect the whole world

  11. What a beautiful smile and energy she had
    Rest easy miss

  12. From what I’ve seen these Columbians bring the thunder. They know how to fight and are a very real force on the battlefield. RIP Nana. Heroyam Slava ✊
