WASHINGTON (7News) — One of two teens pleaded guilty to an August assault on a former Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) employee, which in part led to the federalization of D.C.’s police force and a surge of federal agents, according to ABC News sources.
The 15-year-old boy pleaded guilty on Wednesday to felony assault, robbery, and simple assault in connection with an alleged attempted carjacking that left Edward “Big Balls” Coristine injuried, sources told ABC News.

D.C. Police records said Coristine was injured on August 4, after he claimed to be defending his significant other from the incident. Police said officers were on patrol when they found him being assaulted by a group of 10 juveniles. A 15-year-old boy and girl were arrested.
Days after the 19-year-olds assault, President Trump enacted Section 740 of D.C.’s Home Rule Act, allowing federal control of the Metropolitan Police Department. It also triggered the deployment of thousands of National Guardsmen and federal agents.
The teen boy is expected to be senteced on Oct. 28, according to ABC News sources.
The arrested teen girl has not yet entered a plea but is expected in court on Oct. 8, per sources.
Both teens, if sentenced to jail, are expected to be held in at the D.C. Department of Youth Rehabilitation Services until they turn 21.
