I absolutely love Sweden and pretty much go to visit my extended family there whenever I find the time to go, however I feel like I haven’t been visiting more areas around Linköping. Any tipsss?

Take the train to Norrköping tonight. We’re having “Kulturnatt” so the whole city will be full of events and concerts (most for free). Here is a link to the programme: https://visit.norrkoping.se/download/18.1261093c1993221cf682dba/1758612036584/Program Kulturnatten 2025.pdf
Spent 10 years in Linköping, city is probably one of the most boring places in Sweden. Like the other commenter said, go to Norrköping instead. So much more character to that city.
I did meet my wife in Linköping though, so that’s something.
Saab Arena
I’ve met new people at the pubs and bars downtown. This summer I made two friends at De Klomp, a Belgian bar.
You’ve got a good selection of museums. Östergötlands Museum and Slotts-och Domkyrkomuseet are both downtown, and the Air Force Museum is just a 10 minute bus ride outside the city. The cathedral and the library are both worth a visit. Make sure to check out the basement of the library where they have a mini-museum of curiosities from around the world. Then there’s the new swim hall, though entrance is a bit expensive. You could also go for a walk along the river where there are some nice restaurants to check out.
The train to Norrköping is twentyone minutes, we have our annual culture night tonight, welcome!
Go see IFK Norrköping playing football.
Just stay in Grebo, there are usually som deers in the forest behind you to hang out with
What do you want to see?
Nature, there is alot, you have Omberg and Tåkern.
History : You have Vreta Cloister, Alvastra Cloister , Vadsten Cloister Church, Röksten ( a famous rune stone).
There is also Bergs slussar and Swedish Air Force Museum in Malmslätt.
Food: You have Brunneby musteri ( a place that make none alcoholic drinks, jams and has great resturant) and Cloetta chocolate at Cloetta boden at Gamla Linköping.
Don’t get your hopes up about meeting people. I’ve lived here my entire life and haven’t met many.
If you’re a game developer, or working in any of the adjacent fields, then I can recommend East Sweden Game (ESG).
It’s a co-working space for game developers in all stages of developement and employment.
ESG is open to the public every regular thursday. There’s a developer lunch at 12:00 in one of the nearby restaurants.
Fika is served at 16:00, followed by some form of event, often a lecture or playtest.
