NANAIMO — Investigators are looking into the circumstances behind the fatal shooting of a dog.

Officers were called to an area near the Holly Ave. and Rosehill St. intersection just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27 after reports came in of shots being fired.

“Members got on scene pretty quick and a dog was found shot and was dead on scene,” Reserve Cst. Gary O’Brien told NanaimoNewsNOW. “No individuals were shot, the suspect is at large and we don’t know the motive behind it.”

O’Brien said it appears to be a “targeted incident” but they’re unsure who is responsible at this time.
