Wisconsin Public Service is reminding residents to stay safe around natural gas.

These pipelines are buried underground all over the place, including under your lawn.

WPS is stressing the importance of understanding the delivery system, how to identify natural gas pipelines, and how to prevent damage to the pipes.

Maps are available to find out exactly where these pipes are located on your property, but you can also call Diggers Hotline at 811 to ensure you are not going to run into one during a yard project.

If you are working in your yard and smell a strong odor, hear a blowing or kissing sound, or see dirt blowing into the air or water bubbling, you should immediately call 800-450-7280 or 9-1-1 from a safe location.
