Budapest Christmas markets
Did you know the Hungarian capital is packed with “tinkling” market stalls and “majestic” architecture?
Jet2holidays teases “you’ve really got it all at your fingertips” during a Budapest Christmas market break.
It adds: “Enjoy a cup of mulled wine, a bite of sweet chimney cake and a dash of festive cheer.”
Just some of the highlights on your trip could include a wintery river cruise down the Danube River and an “enchanting” afternoon tea at the Christmas market, including cheesecakes, tarts, and chocolate-topped cakes.
Don’t forget to check out Budapest City Park – one of Europe’s oldest ice rinks.

Vienna Christmas markets
Three of Vienna’s Christmas markets are said to be like stepping straight into a winter fairytale, according to Jet2holidays.
“Dotted around Austria’s handsome and historic capital, each one offers a huge selection of seasonal treats,” the travel experts continue.
During your “magical” city break this Christmas, make sure to visit the Maria-Theresien-Platz market, which transforms into a “New Year’s village”.
Additionally, the mesmerising (and iconic) Magic of Advent market is a must-visit too, which is held at Rathausplatz, in front of the 19th-century city hall.
At this “postcard-perfect” market in Vienna, you can find more than 145 stalls.
A Brief History of Christmas Markets
In the evenings, trees are “embellished with lights to create an enchanting woodland” – plus there’s a track-style ice rink to make the most of.
If you’re looking for more cosy nighttime activities, you might want to explore the “beautiful” Schönbrunn Palace, which has festive market stalls lining the palace square.

“Visit Santa Claus at Tivoli Gardens, then how about spending your afternoon browsing the whimsical stalls and drinking mulled wine along Nyhavn Harbour?
“There’s nothing quite like Copenhagen at Christmas, so come and experience it in all its jolly glory for yourself.”
Across Copenhagen, there are three Christmas Markets to discover, including the traditional Kongens Nytorv market, Nyhavn Christmas market by the harbour, and of course the famous Tivoli Gardens Christmas market.

Krakow Christmas markets
Krakow’s Christmas markets are located in the “charming” Polish city that is “spellbinding” year-round, but really “comes into its own” during winter.
“Wander the Old Town for medieval architecture embellished with twinkling lights, make a beeline for Rynek Główny for stalls teeming with traditional trinkets and duck into one of snug cellar bars when night falls,” Jet2Holiday shares.
Throughout November and December, Krakow’s Rynek Główny (main square) glows in its “fanciest” festive sparkle, boasting a “buzzy” Christmas market on one side.
Krakow also offers something unique during the festive season, as it has a tradition every year of hosting a nativity scene competition.
Jet2holidays explains: “Contestants construct colourful interpretations complete with churches, or szopki, and other architecture you’ll find in the city.
