Prince Harry reportedly had grand plans to interview global figures like Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump about their childhood traumas and upbringing, according to recent reports.
The Duke of Sussex allegedly left Spotify executives scratching their heads with his proposal, which came just weeks before the streaming giant confirmed the termination of their deal with Harry and his wife, Meghan Markle.
Harry is said to have pitched his idea to several producers and production companies, suggesting that these interviews could provide fresh insights into how these international personalities became who they are today. The Duke even reportedly proposed interviewing Pope Francis to discuss religion as part of a broader societal conversation program. It comes as Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were slammed by one royal commentator for their “tackiest move yet.”

However, Bloomberg reports that Spotify executives were skeptical about the feasibility of the project, noting that individuals like Putin would likely not be open to discussing their childhood traumas, reports the Express US.
Adding to the complexity, the Duke of Sussex has had a somewhat tense relationship with Trump, who has openly admitted he’s “not a fan” of Meghan Markle and has repeatedly criticized the couple. Unfortunately for Harry, none of his ambitious ideas materialized in the end, as his three-year $20 million contract with Spotify was terminated earlier this month.
The company confirmed that they had “mutually agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we made together.” According to The Wall Street Journal, sources claimed that Harry and Meghan had not “met the productivity benchmarks required to receive the full payout from the deal.”

Following their agreement at the close of 2020, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex delivered just one significant project – Meghan’s podcast Archetypes. Spotify has recently downsized its workforce and scaled back on high-profile podcast personalities to pivot toward the creator economy.
The Duchess of Sussex concluded the 13th installment of her podcast, which examined the “labels that try to hold women back”, without any indication of a follow-up season. Spotify’s move has now sparked speculation about whether the pair’s Netflix partnership could also be in jeopardy.
Inked shortly after their music-streaming platform agreement, Harry and Meghan’s Netflix contract has thus far produced the divisive Harry & Meghan series and an upcoming documentary, Heart of Invictus. An earlier venture, the animated show Pearl, was canceled during pre-production.
However, while one insider suggests that “the feeling is that the lemon has been fully squeezed,” a source connected to Archewell informed The Sun that “the Netflix deal is in better shape than it ever has been.” Harry and Meghan have remained silent regarding any public statements about their current partnerships with the streaming giant.
