Williamsport, Pa. – The Stevens Institute of Technology men’s golf team carded a 303 during the opening round of the DIII Northeast Elite Tournament on Sunday.
The Ducks, who were +19, sat in 13th place at the time of publication.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Arav Tank (6th place) turned in the round of the day for Stevens, firing an even-par 71 to pace the Ducks. Tank was sharp on both sides of the course, making the turn in 36 after playing holes 3-9 at -1 before closing with a 35 on the back. On the back nine, Tank notched back-to-back birdies on 14 and 15. Ben Slicker (48th place) followed with a four-over 75, recording a 37 on the front nine that included back-to-back birdies on the par-four fifth and par-five sixth before adding a 38 on the back to secure Stevens’ second counting score.
Sebastian Beaver (67th place) contributed a seven-over 78. He went out in 39 with a birdie on the par-three sixth and matched the 39 on the back-nine, where he strung together multiple pars to keep the round intact. Alex Carey (74th place) added a 79, with consecutive birdies on the par-five sixth and par-four seventh. Carey polished off his round with a birdie on 18. First-year Jack Harris (88th place) rounded out the lineup with an 88, improving from a 46 on the front with a stronger 42 on the back.
