we really seem to be at the brink of a real ww3 situation, russia invading europe with ukraine, nato supplying ukraine, and china getting ready to go for taiwan which most likely will end up with america and their pacific allies joining in. god I hope this is all just posturing…
I think we all hope the No-Limits Partners don’t ignite another Century shaking war of aggression.
At some point China will attempt to take Taiwan, totally inevitable
It’s a case of waiting until America is so disorganised on the world stage and with its influence and that time is soon
With so much trouble brewing at home of Trumps making there will be no stomach for a foreign intervention
Add: to those that down voted my comment
If your disagreement and defence is “we should not be fighting in wars or defending people thousands of miles away” then I totally respect that view
But for the last 60 years that’s been how your nation operates, for better or worse
If you flick that switch off, show weakness and fight at home what do you expect will happen?
And meanwhile, Trump is cutting defense weapon sales to Taiwan… Trump is the most pro-China President America has ever had.
I can anecdotally confirm that a good amount of ship captains in the coast of China close to Taiwan would *happily* captain a ship full of soldiers in an invasion of Taiwan. They JOKE about it openly in English with tourists.
Chinese men are very nationalistic, I can’t see why anyone here would be surprised about Dunkirk and how British sailors saved their countrymen at the shores of France? Its almost the same thing for the citizens of China.
When China says its a point of national honor and duty to retake Taiwan, they mean it. I don’t think they’d prefer war over diplomacy, but I think China is realizing the diplomacy option is becoming less and less credible.
Taiwan supplies 70% of the global chips the remaining 30% could not supply that global demand that if a war broke out all electronic prices would skyrocket goodluck buying smartphone less than $3000 USD
Arm Taiwan to the teeth.
If China wants to reunify, China should act like a country that the Taiwanese WANT to reunify with.
Easier way to prep for this will be mandatory drone flying classes for every single kid in Taiwan. These ferries won’t take one or two cheap drone to sink.
There might be a legitimate reason for the meeting after all…
It’s possible that China has learned from Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. So rather than begin with a full on invasion of Taiwan, China could begin with a full on naval blockade (which is also an act of war).
Isn’t this basically common knowledge by now? China has basically required for years now that commercial vessels built for use in China also be able to be rapidly repurposed for military use in the event of an invasion of Taiwan. That includes ferries, freight, and fuel vessels.
Reminds me of the mongol invasion of Japan.
This is the warning sign that everybody says is coming.
You don’t launch an amphibious assault on the DL.
Its always too obvious
Its all posturing.
China has been going to take Taiwan since 1949.
Furthermore they can’t get what they want if they do invade.
>**Remote kill switch**: The Netherlands-based company ASML, which supplies TSMC (Taiwan based) with the world’s most advanced chipmaking machines (EUV lithography), can remotely disable its equipment. It is widely reported that ASML has such a contingency plan to prevent China from seizing the technology.
Source, google.
Also the US Military has several controversial plans that Taiwan is not a fan of to destroy the factories should China invade. (Google)
Considering the technology is from Northern Europe, China would spend decades trying to build something similar, and they might as well do that on their own soil.
Last but not least, the US and allies in the region have them strategically surrounded, (China is mostly rural except the east coast) with layers of defense that could go on offense in minutes. They aren’t anywhere near ready for the war machine that has had 14 years peace since 1776. They have 3 carriers. Last time the US sank an enemy carrier the USN sank 11 Japanese carriers on the way to Tokyo. China is not ready to sink 11 American carriers, at all.
Google “The million man swim.” So you can get an idea of what an invasion of Taiwan is like, there’s a reason the US military decided to forego an incursion into Taiwan during WW2 and decided instead to just force Japan into a full on surrender rather than deal with the problems associated with invading Taiwan.
This is going to be a bloodbath unlike anything we’ve seen in decades, Russian defeats in Ukraine will look like a bad day on your favourite hospital show. Taiwan holds incredible advantages by already occupying the island and there will be plenty of opportunity for them to make the Chinese feel regret about this loss poor decision to send all of their able bodied citizens to war.
Citizens I should add that aren’t having children or are having fewer children.
Well, if they want to do anything its really the best time, to be honest. Trump is a clown of a leader who we all know will do shit about any of this.
What I don’t see anyone say in any article is how many of these vessels will be necessary for an invasion? I believe this article (which I read earlier today) says 60 are produced or under production. Does anyone have any knowledge of how many would be needed?

I realize China has the capability to do a lot of damage to Taiwan’s shore defense and anti-ship capabilities, but do they *really* think they’re going to get enough troops across 136 MILES of open ocean through the Taiwan Strait without losing literally every ship they send?
The reason D-Day was so successful is that there weren’t satellites, surface-to-surface missiles, nuclear subs that can run underwater and undetected for months at a time, aircraft carriers with effective combat aircraft ranges of 1250 nautical miles (not to mention extending distances from land or with aerial refueling), etc…the largest challenge would be how fast could any portion of the US Pacific fleet get there to reinforce Taiwan, and how vulnerable *it* would be to all of the things mentioned above from China’s arsenal.
Naval vessels – outside of submarines, which have their own issues – are just about rendered ineffective with today’s armaments, satellites, and drone technology when you’re talking about modern militaries.
Tauwan might target only troop carriers as the lost of life will be massive causing the public in China to be outrage unless China go nuclear on thier internet
Just waiting for the US to fully and properly slip up
Who else thinks logistics are cool?! I love planning and resource allocation.
i wonder if our buddies in ukraine could give some tips to taiwan for a fleet of sea drones
Is there anyway China can spin this? Like can this “ferry fleet” be used in a defensive nature at all? Would there be a defensive need for this particular “fleet”?
Enjoy meeting Taiwan’s anti-ship missiles 🤣 That China thinks it could pull this off without a complete naval buildup is laughable
There’s definitely gearing up to go sooner than later. Especially considering China’s predicted collapse of it’s demographics, they can’t wait too long.
