  1. Well, I guess Russia is going to get back the S400 Radar units it wants.

  2. Yeah of course. Erdogan is unreliable, u trustable and a dictator

  3. > This unprecedented move

Not unprecedened: they did the same in 2018 by blocking the sell of Rafale to Egypt, resulting in the replacement of the missiles’ chips that were under the ITAR regulation and a 100% ITAR-free Rafale.

They are dumb as rock because this kind of coercition just push away the defense industry from US products.

    > In Washington, the blockage aligns with long-standing congressional scepticism toward Turkey’s role in NATO, with lawmakers frequently citing Ankara’s “transactional” approach to alliances.

The US are the least well placed to say that.

  4. Mark my words: when war begins in Europe the US will see an immediate Executive Order aligning with Russia.

  5. Saying the US blocks export isn’t quite correct. Turkey asked to buy the F110 engines and the US said no.

  6. I would say Safran, but other commenters previously enlightened me about improbability of France helping Turkey develop its military.

So maybe China would be willing to sell WS-10A

  7. When turkey close to russia, iran and china then Western world should not ask why! as you see even USA ,its ally not friendly against turkey why turkey would not look for alternative ?

  8. Oh no, now Russia will not get hold of those engines.

  9. They were originally looking at EJ200, I wonder if they’ll look again now, particularly since they’ll be acquiring a bunch of them anyway when they buy Typhoon

  10. Essentially, the US is hinting to Turkey that either you buy the F-35 or you’re left without a fifth-generation fighter jet.
It’s likely that Turkey cannot replace the engines, so it’s offering an exchange: the US sells the engines, and Turkey purchases civilian Boeing aircraft for Turkish Airlines.

  11. America has always tried to sabotage European defence deals with other countries for example With Egypt, India , Australia, Indonesia.

America is also delaying engines to India’s fighter jet , hoping to sabotage their entire program so that the only option for them is to buy American fighter jet . So they are looking for partnership with France’s Safran and UK’s Rolls Royce.

America in the past has also sabotaged India’s Space programs ,technology was denied from all over the world because of American pressure and scientists were assassinated or trapped .

  12. 5min later:

“Why is Europe relying on US for defense? Get lost!”.

  13. This is not good. It will delay the Kaan fighter, but it will delay, not stop the programme. Turkey can agree to the deal with Rolls Royce for the EJ200 without the transfer of IP, or they can get an engine from Russia or China. It won’t be the same, but it won’t be the end of the programme. It will make the relations between Turkey and the USA even worse than they are.

  14. Guess it will use Chinese engines then. Funny how that works.
