The South Korean mergers and acquisitions (M&A) market surpassed 20 trillion won ($14.24 billion) in the third quarter of 2025, showing a clear recovery trend.
According to a tally by Maeil Business Newspaper’s capital market tracker Radar M on Tuesday, the total volume of M&A transactions in Korea amounted to 21.69 trillion won in the third quarter of 2025.
The figure has exceeded the total volume of the first half of the year at 15.27 trillion won.
The volume increased by nearly 70 percent from the same period last year (12.81 trillion won) and even beat the previous high of 19.63 trillion won set in the third quarter of 2021 when the low-interest rate environment led to an M&A boom.
The biggest deal in the third quarter was the 4.6 trillion won acquisition of DIG Airgas Co. by French gas giant Air Liquide, which is seeking to re-enter the Korean market.
