TRM, the Moldovan national broadcaster, has held discussions with members of the Moldovan music industry on a potential return to the Eurovision Song Contest.
On September 30 in Chisinau, the Moldovan public broadcaster held discussions with Moldovan artists and producers regarding a potential return to the Eurovision Song Contest. The discussion focused on:
The format of a national selection
Potential changes to the rules
Promotion strategies
Support measures for participants
As part of the meeting, concerns and challenges were discussed by the participants. TRM has emphasised in its press release that it has not yet decided whether it will compete in Eurovision 2026, and will continue consultations to work on a plan that meets Moldova’s needs.
Moldova withdrew from the Eurovision Song Contest 2025 “following a detailed analysis of the current situation, as well as the economic, administrative and artistic challenges.” Moldova had planned to compete in Basel, but withdrew following the live auditions stage of Etapa Națională. Moldova had competed annually in the Eurovision Song Contest since its debut in 2005.
