At Windsor Castle yesterday , Prince William held an investiture ceremony, knighting actor Gary Oldman—making him Sir Gary Oldman.
“I feel very honored, very humbled and flattered, I think in equal measure,” he said today. It compares to nothing else. I thought the Oscar was a big deal. No disrespect to the academy, but it sort of pales in comparison to this. It’s just been wonderful.”
Outside of Windsor Castle, Oldman posed for portraits with the medal. He also revealed Prince William told him he was a “fan” of Slow Horses. Of his interaction with Prince William, Oldman said, “He mentioned The Fifth Element and Churchill of Darkest Hour. He said he was very happy that I was here today and that it was him that had the opportunity to present me with [the knigthood]. He’s a fan, yeah.”

I’m a huge fan of his works, I’m so jealous William gets to meet him 🥲

I saw him on stage in a play a few months back. It was such a good experience.
How is William allowed to knight people? I thought only the King could knight (???).
Can’t have a post on Gary Oldman without someone mentioning his sister is Big Mo from Eastenders.
I love this! I saw a cute interview with him today and he was obviously delighted to be honored. He talked about being a bit self-conscious because he’s got the hair and gut of his character Jackson Lamb from Slow Horses and couldn’t do much with his hair other than put it up. The Prince said he watches the show!
