South African ambassador found dead at Paris hotel in possible suicide: prosecutor • FRANCE 24

Later in the program, a police investigations underway after the South African ambassador to France was found dead in Paris. 58-year-old Nati Matetto had reserved a room on the 22nd floor of a building whose secured window had been forced open. This according to the office of the Paris prosecutor. His dead body was discovered in the Port Mayo district of the French capital. France 24 correspondent Tom Kenneti has this reaction from South Africa. French police began looking for the ambassador on Monday after his wife said that she’d received a worrying message from him. His phone was last located at 3 p.m. on Monday afternoon near the Bulong in western Paris and the French police then sent a canine unit looking for him. The public prosecutor’s office said that his body was found on Tuesday after he had fallen 22 stories from the highest hotel at Port Mayor not far from the art triumph after the secured window in the room that he had booked had been forced open. The French police are still investigating and have not confirmed the circumstances which led to his death. The South African president uh released a statement saying that the ambassador’s life had been ended traumatically and prematurely. Meta served as minister for police between 2009 and 2014 and he had been accused two weeks ago by Lieutenant Generalazi of political interference during the Madlanga Commission, the ongoing Mandelanga Commission which is investigating corruption within the South African Police Service. Later following those accusations, he’d been called upon by the political party, the Economic Freedom Fighters, to give evidence as a potential witness following those accusations. questions.
