Mikel Arteta has been nominated for the Premier League Manager of the Month award for September.
Our boss steered us to second in the table with two wins and one draw throughout the month, starting with a 3-0 success at home to Nottingham Forest.
That was followed by a 1-1 draw at home to Manchester City, when his introduction of Gabriel Martinelli resulted in our 93rd-minute equaliser at Emirates Stadium.
His substitutions again made an impact at St. James’ Park on Sunday, with Mikel Merino equalising against Newcastle United before Gabriel headed in a 96th-minute winner, set up by Martin Odegaard.
Mikel, who is looking for his eighth managerial success and his first since February 2024, is up against three other managers this time around. His friend Pep Guardiola is one, having steered Manchester City to seven points from three matches, as has Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner, the only undefeated boss left in England’s top-flight this term.
Sunderland’s Regis Le Bris rounds off the shortlist having kept Sunderland undefeated in September, with a win and two draws.
Voting is open from now until 12pm (UK) on Monday, October 6.
